How to attempt an assessment in Safe Assessment Browser?

Published:

Know the steps to attempt an assessment which has Safe Assessment Browser enabled.

Safe Assessment Browser is a remote proctoring mechanism that prevents cheating by blocking access to other software and shielding the assessment screen of the candidate in real time.

This feature, when enabled, restricts the candidates from cheating and create a safe and secure online assessment environment.

  1. Click the assessment link to redirect yourself to the page with quick steps for installing the Safe Assessment Browser.
  2.  Click the Download button to download the installer.
  3. Click the installer to install the Safe Assessment Browser. Once installation is completed, the following message appears.

After the installation is completed, close the window. Open the test link you received. You will be directed again to the first page. Since you have already completed the initial two steps, click the Attempt Test button to start the test, as shown in the above image.
  4. The following window appears, enter you full name, email address and authenticate yourself to proceed with the test.

Important! You must complete the installation to be able to enter the test window.

Here is a quick troubleshooting guide for a seamless test experience:

Mic Issue:

1. Disconnect any external devices and use the system’s mic for audio registration.

2. Go to System Settings and in Microphone Privacy settings and allow mic access to

all the applications.

3. If there’s any issue you’re facing with your mic altogether, please visit this website

to have your mic tested: https://mictests.com

Webcam Issue:

Move to a very well-lit area and fit your entire face in the oval shape

shown on the screen before you click on ‘Take Photo’.

I would also request you if you could check if your camera itself is functioning properly

from this site here: https://webcamtests.com/

(Please check your camera in other apps such as Skype, Camera etc. as well)

In certain cases, there is an issue with the firewall which causes camera-related

problems. Please try and switch to cellular hotspot and then try to attempt the test

1. Allow Camera Access in Windows

· Go to: Privacy → App Permissions → Camera

Step 2: Enable Camera Access

Ensure the following options are turned ON:

· Camera access

· Let apps access your camera

· Allow desktop apps to access your camera

2. Close Other Applications Using Camera

Before starting the test, make sure no other application is using the camera. If the camera is already in use, the test may fail.

Check the following:

· Verify that camera access is enabled for both Microsoft Store apps and desktop apps (as shown above in the reference images).

· Check the “Last accessed” time in camera settings and close any recently used applications.

Identify Camera Usage

· If your camera LED is ON → Another application is currently using the camera

· If the LED is OFF but shows “Camera in use” →

o Restart your system, or

o Try using a different laptop/device

3. Final Checklist Before Staring Test

· Camera is working in Camera app

· System camera permissions are enabled

· No other apps are using the camera

Restricted Software detected (AnyDesk) issue
The reason due to which this error prompt pops up is because the software called
AnyDesk might actually be running in the background and may not be visible directly in
the Task Manager. Please follow the below mentioned steps to get past this error and
take the test:

• Please make sure to check in the Processes tab of the Task Manager if AnyDesk is
running. If it is indeed running, please close and disable its auto startup from
there itself.
• After that has been checked, please close the Test Window and press Win + R to
open "Run". Once it has opened, please type in "msconfig".

• After typing in msconfig and clicking OK, click on the Services Tab on top

  • Once on the Services Tab, please check the box that says Hide all Microsoft
    Services.

    • Once that box is checked, please search in the list that says AnyDesk Service and uncheck the box.

    • Click on Apply and then OK.
    • The system would need to be restarted so please restart the system
After the system restarts, please take the test again from the mail invite that you
