How to conduct a Live Interview?

Know how to conduct a Live Interview and empower yourselves to recreate a virtual environment and assess a candidate's technical skills in real-time.

Follow the steps below to ensure a seamless experience during your Live Coding Interview:

I. Ensure a technical system check:

1. Check your laptop/desktop for a working microphone and camera. Make sure both of these are up and running. You may also run a system check, before your final attempt. 

2. Install the most recent browser versions: Live Coding Interview is compatible with the most recent Chrome and Firefox versions.

II. Conduct a Live Interview:

1. Click the Interview Link received in the email invitation, or directly access the interview in your Outlook or Google calendar (blocked using the Add to Calendar feature of iMocha's Live Interview), or copy paste the Interview Link on your browser.

2. Authenticate yourself to enter the interview. Use the same email address in which you received the interview invitation.

Note: If you are a Guest Interviewer, you will be asked to wait until the host starts the interview. You can enter the interview only once the host starts the interview.

3. The Live Interview platform screen appears as shown below:

You can use the built in text, voice, and video chat to communicate with the candidate and fellow interviewers. 

The features in the Live Interview platform is listed below:

i. Adding Questions

During the live interview, you can access iMocha's coding skills library at any time. The library has two filter:

a. Questions categorised as Easy, Medium, or Hard. Candidates are shown the problem statement, as well as sample input and output.

b. The filter on Topics, for ready reference to suitable question bank.

Note: You can evaluate the candidate on multiple questions during the interview.

Interviewers can edit the candidate's code, provide custom input, and see the result of code compilation in real time on the platform. 

ii. Download Candidate's Assessment Report 

Note: This feature is enabled if the interview has been scheduled based on a test taken by the candidate before being shortlisted for the live interview.

Click Download Report button to access candidate's assessment report for an assessment done prior to the interview. his will help you target relevant interview questions during the interview based on the already assessed skills of the candidate.

iii. Using interesting Plugins
You can use choose from additional Plugins from the bottom right icon as indicated below:

 

a. Excalidraw: Excalidraw is an interesting whiteboarding plugin that you can use to interact with the candidates. You can use this Plugin to test the candidate on algorithms and logic building outside the coding environment. You can choose to continually switch between Coding and Whiteboarding mode as per the demand on the interview. 

b. Built-in Code Editor: iMocha's Live Coding Interview supports 26+ programming languages and can compile against a set of predefined test cases. Candidate-friendly features include Syntax Highlighting, AutoComplete, VIMS, and Emacs simulation, have been included as per preferences.

Additionally, you may suit yourself with a Light or Dark Theme, by clicking on the Settings icon. 

iv. Rating candidate performance 

Click Interview Rating, as shown in picture, to assign your rating or scores on the various parameters, as set by the interview scheduler. To know how to set your own parameters to evaluate a Live interview, click here

The below window appears. Fill in your scores, provide the Additional Feedback (mandatory) and click Submit Rating.

v. Leaving Interview or Ending Session 

To leave the interview, click Leave Session .

This option is enabled for both host and other interviewers. 

Note: Both Host and Interviewer can evaluate the interview. Moreover, host can choose to exit interview by using the "Leave Session" option, and allow other interviewers to carry on in his/her absence.

4. After interacting with the candidate to end the session, click End Session. In case you want to update the candidates' ratings and provide your scores on rating parameters, the candidate rating window reappears. It helps you review and update the interview ratings before you leave or end the session.

Warning: End session is initially enabled only for the Host. In case the host chooses to Leave session, the End Session button will be enabled for other interviewers. Thereafter, any one of the other interviewers may End Session, after concluding the interview.

5. The feedback page appears. Give your feedback and close the browser.
