How to add prompt engineering questions to your test?

Creating a Prompt Engineering Question

What this question type lets you do

Prompt Engineering is a question type, not a separate assessment. You author it through the same question bank flow you already use for MCQ, Coding, MySQL, and the rest, and drop it into any test, next to Coding, Aptitude, Speaking, or Domain sections. The candidate is given a realistic workplace scenario and writes prompts to an AI assistant; their instructions are scored against a fixed 8-parameter rubric. That means you can measure prompting skill inside the tests you already run, for the roles you already hire for, with no new workflow to adopt.

Because you create and maintain these questions yourself, your own scenarios, your own reference files, you never need an engineering ticket per question.

Step 1 — Open the question authoring area

From the left navigation, go to Tests → My Questions. 

This opens the Questions screen, where you manage your question banks and individual questions across tabs: Questions, Shared Questions, Manage Category/Question Bank, Upload Questions, and more.

Step 2 — Create a question bank

Every question is filed into a question bank. To create one, go to Manage Category/Question Bank and select Add Question Bank. In the modal, fill in:

• Question Bank Name — what this bank is called.
• Skill — the skill this bank is associated with.
• Question Type — select Prompt Engineering from the list (it appears alongside AI-evaluation, Coding, Database types, Video Interview, and the rest).
• Category — the bank's category classification.
• Topics — topic tags for the bank.
• Status — Active or Inactive.

A note on status: in the review workflow, the bank is Inactive by default — activate it manually once its questions are reviewed, so it can be used in assessments. If you're not using review, set the status to Active and proceed. Select Save.

Step 3 — Add the question

Back on the Questions tab, select Add Question and choose Prompt Engineering from the dropdown. This opens the Add Questions for Prompt Engineering form, where Question Type is fixed to Prompt Engineering. Fill in:

• Question Bank Name — choose the bank you created. If it doesn't exist yet, use Add Question Bank right here to create it inline.
  
  
• Question — the scenario/problem brief the candidate reads before writing their prompt, in the rich-text editor.
• Add Resources (up to 3) — reference files the candidate can attach during the assessment. Only Markdown (.md) files are supported, up to 3 files, 10 KB max each. Tip: if a resource is internal-only or sensitive, state that in the file's own text — the assistant reads that and won't leak it into its output.
• Purpose of the Question — what the question is designed to assess. Author/reviewer-facing only, never shown to the candidate.
• Difficulty — the difficulty level for this question.
• Answer Explanation — a reference explanation of a strong answer, for grading context. Never shown to the candidate.
• Points, Author, Topics — as with any question.

In your test's Questions tab, select Add Questions. Then:

1. Choose the questions library — iMocha or My Questions.
   
   
2. Under Which type of questions would you like in the test?, select Prompt Engineering.
   
3. Choose the question bank.
4. Add the questions to an existing section, or create a new section and name it.
5. Select Proceed to Select Questions.
   
   

On the selection panel, pick questions Automated (set how many Easy / Medium / Hard, or All Questions) or Manual (choose specific questions), filter by Difficulty Level and Topics, and preview any question, including its scenario and attached resources, before selecting Save Questions.
