Conducting AI-Interviews in Multiple Languages with Tara
Tara can now conduct AI interviews in 30 languages. You can invite candidates to a voice-based conversational interview in their preferred language, while your entire recruiter workflow stays in English.
What Changes and What Stays the Same
Only the interview conversation is conducted in the selected language. Everything you set up and review stays in English.

Selecting an Interview Language
You choose the interview language when you create the interview.
- Go to Step 1: Enter Job Details.
- Next to the AI Interview Title and Experience fields, open the Language dropdown.
- Search or scroll to find the language you need, then select it. English (US) is selected by default.
Keep these points in mind:
- The Language field is mandatory and allows a single selection.
- The dropdown is searchable, so you can type to filter the list quickly.
- The language is locked once the first invitation is sent. This keeps the interview language consistent with invitations candidates have already received.
Regional Variants Are Separate Options
Regional variants appear as individual, selectable entries. For example, French (France) and French (Canada), Portuguese (Portugal) and Portuguese (Brazil), and Dutch (Netherlands) and Dutch (Belgium/Flemish) are listed separately. Select the exact variant you need. Tara matches the AI voice and transcription to that specific variant throughout the interview.
Supported Languages
English (US) is the stable default and supports both AI-driven and custom questions.
All other languages carry a Beta tag and support AI-driven interviews only. Custom questions are disabled when you select a Beta language. The Beta tag appears wherever the language name is shown, including the dropdown, interview summary, and metadata views.

What the Candidate Sees
The invitation email stays in English. It now tells the candidate, in advance, which language the interview will be conducted in, including the regional variant.
Candidates are advised to confirm they are comfortable communicating in that language throughout the interview, and to contact their recruiter or the support team with any questions before they begin.
Reports and Analytics
Reports remain fully in English. For a non-English interview, Tara transcribes the conversation and provides an English translation and summary in the report. All report headers and sections, such as Technical Proficiency and Communication Skills, stay in English regardless of the interview language.
