Section Switch: Enhancing Candidate Flexibility During Assessments

Published:

The Section Switch feature enhances the assessment experience by allowing candidates to choose the order in which they attempt different sections of a test. Instead of following a fixed sequence, candidates can begin with the sections they feel most confident about. This added flexibility is aimed at reducing test anxiety, improving focus, and helping candidates perform at their best.

The Section Switch feature can be configured while creating or cloning a test.

Whether you're creating a test from scratch or using a ready Job Role test, you’ll find a setting called Test Navigation Mode during the setup process.

  • By default, Test Navigation Mode is set to No, which enforces a fixed section order for candidates.

  • If you choose Yes, candidates will be allowed to switch between sections during the test.

Note: Once the test navigation mode is selected and the test is created, this setting cannot be changed later.

Behavior Based on Selection:

  • If set to No:

    • The test will follow a fixed section order.
Note: Enabling Section Switch adds a 5-minute buffer to help candidates transition between sections smoothly.

    • Under Test Settings, an instruction will appear:
“Candidates are not allowed to switch between sections during the test.

When Cloning an Existing Test

If you choose to clone a test, a pop-up will prompt you to confirm whether you want to allow section switching for candidates.
You can also use the Clone feature to modify the test’s navigation mode (Section Switch: On or Off) for any existing test.

  • You can select Yes or No depending on the navigation experience you want to provide in the cloned test.
